José Alberto "El Canario" is a privileged artist, with an exceptional voice, with a unique style. He is also a master improviser. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on December 22nd.
His family became aware of better horizons further from his country's frontiers and decided to travel with José Alberto to Puerto Rico when he was just seven years old. In the enchanting island of Puerto Rico, he joined the Las Antillas Military Academy where he pursued his musical studies.
His formidable performing abilities were a factor in opening doors for him and later on, he decided to take residence in New York City where he began to show the outstanding skills that make of him a star in tropical music. He became a distinguished figure in many popular orchestras of the time, earning profound reverence from the audience troughout the nation.
The experience he accumulated made him a musical leader, and in 1983, he hired a well-known group of musicians and formed the José Alberto "El Canario" & Su Orquesta; the most spectacular and danceable group in New York. In 1987, Ralph Mercado chose José Alberto, to inaugurate the Tropical catalog of the RMM label. "El Canario" has recorded a dozen excellent productions (ten of them for RMM). Celia Cruz has chosen him as her colleague on stage and for years they have become the most perfect and solid combination in international music.
Since then, he has traveled the five continents and today, on each one of them, "El Canario" is known as a stellar artist of the Tropical rhythm genre. From the United States to Patagonia, José has been acclaimed in France, Italy, London, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
The voice and rhythm of José Alberto is present on stages throughout the continents where people dance and praise his unmistakable style and enjoy his energetic and contagious music.
His successful recording career includes countless Gold and Platinum records, and international recognition that just a few artist can exhibit as an impeccable document of an artistic career.

José Alberto "El Canario", originario di Santo Domingo (Repubblica Dominicana) è un artista con una voce eccezionale ed uno stile unico. E' inoltre un ottimo improvvisatore. 
La sua famiglia si trasferì a Puerto Rico in cerca di un futuro migliore quando Josè aveva solo sette anni. Nell'affascinante isola di Puerto Rico, Josè entrò nell'Antillas Military Academy dove ottenne la propria istruzione musicale.
Le sue doti aprirono molte porte a Josè che decise perciò di trasferirsi a New York City dove poté mostrare quel talento che oggi lo rende una vera e propria star della musica tropicale. Diventò una figura fondamentale in molte orchestre popolari guadagnando grande fama e notorietà.
L'esperienza accumulata fece di lui un leader, tanto che, nel 1983, assunse un gruppo di musicisti famosi e formò il gruppo José Alberto "El Canario" & Su Orquesta.
Nel 1987, Ralph Mercado scelse José Alberto, per inaugurare il catalogo dell'etichetta RMM. 
"El Canario" ha registrato una dozzina di produzioni eccellenti (dieci delle quali per la RMM). Celia Cruz lo ha scelto come collega sul palco e per anni hanno costituito una delle più solide realtà del panorama musicale internazionale.
Da allora, ha viaggiato in tutto il mondo e oggi, in ogni paese, "El Canario" è conosciuto come una vera stella del genere musicale Tropicale. Dagli Stati Uniti alla Patagonia, Josè è stato acclamato in Francia, Italia, Inghilterra, Giappone, Germania, Svizzera, Messico, Brasile, Argentina, Uruguay, America Centrale e Meridionale fino ai Caraibi.
Tra i propri successi discografici Josè vanta numerosi dischi d'Oro e di Platino, nonché una fama internazionale che pochi artisti possono esibire come documento di una carriera artistica.
