TOM KENNEDY
electric bass

Tom Kennedy has been a first call Bassist on the Music scene for the last 25 years. The 39 year old musician began his career as an acoustic bassist at the tender age of 11, performing with his brother, pianist Ray Kennedy.
By his late teens, he had already worked with such jazz veterans as James Moody, Peter Erskine, Bili Watrous, Barney Kessel, David Sanborn, Eddie Harris, Nat Adderly, Freddie Hubbard, and Stan Kenton.
Tom's interest was primarily Mainstream Jazz, until his introduction to the electric bass at age 17.
In 1984, Tom moved to New York and immediately became involved in numerous musical situations, on both instruments. Recording master guitarist Bill Connors album "Step it", and touring with legendary jazz group "Steps Ahead" (w/Michael Brecker) brought immediate recognition. Since then, his credits include performance and recordings with such greats as Al DiMeola, Steve Gadd, Tania Maria, Michael Brecker, Don Grolnick, and Dave Weckl.
Tom considers the last 3 years most rewarding to date, with his debut solo release "Basses Loaded" on TKM records in 1997. He is also featured on guitarist Al DiMeola's latest release "The infinate desire", and Dave Weckl's latest recordings, "Rhythm of the Soul" and "Synergy".
Since taking up permanent residency in the L.A. area, he has also recorded a tribute to Bill Evans with Dave Grusin, and a new classical release with Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin.

Since his move to Los Angeles earlier this year, Tom has continued his "Who's Who" list, performing/recording with Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, Joe Sample, Alan Pasqua, Ernie Watts, Jeff Beal, Vinnie Colaiuta, Clay Jenkins, and Simon Phillips.

Tom endorses Yamaha Electric Basses, Fodera Strings, Wilson Acoustic Bass Transducers, and Ampeg amplifiers.
