CITY LINKS

As the Bimhuis turns forty, it is strengthening its City Links with e.g. London, Berlin, Oslo, Chicago and other cities. The aim is to foster exchanges between wayward musicians from dynamic cities. The first in a series of London-Amsterdam exchange programmes will be concentrated on two evenings on October 9 and 10, curated by Evan Parker. The title Might I Suggest refers to his monthly evenings in London’s Vortex. In the Bimhuis he’ll organise concerts with John Russell, Michael Vatcher, Richard Barrett and members of the ICP Orchestra. Joel Ryan (STEIM) will kick-off both evenings with electronic variations on solo music by Evan Parker. Many other City Links are under construction.

AND MORE

Other activities during the celebration season will include: concert series in and in cooperation with Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Roode Bioscoop, Felix &Foam and at Haarlem Jazz & More Festival, the revival of the Bimhuis CD label with special CD releases from the Bimhuis vaults, the introduction of Bimradio a brand new internet radio station with live broadcasting and on demand streams, exhibitions both in the Bimhuis and City Library (OBA), Engelbewaarder en De Kring, a series of lectures at the OBA with personal views on aspects of jazz history by eminent musicians, Jazz on Film programmes, a series of jazz video portraits by the Netherlands Jazz Archive, a discography of all Bimhuis based recordings and there will even be a locally brewed celebration beer...
