Palatia Jazz 2015: in the vineyards of Germany

Between the 20 of June and the 8 of August 2015 Germany's wine region host the 19th edition of one of the finest Jazz Festivals in Europe. Palatia Jazz, a member of the Europe Jazz Network, combines great international music with beautiful settings and historic venues in the Palatinate wine area for over one month and a half of music.

The programme include concerts by world-renowned jazz stars, such as the accordionist Richard Galliano, the poet on trumpet Paolo Fresu and master pianist Jan Lundgren with the premiere of the second edition of the famous Mare Nostrum, the impressive young singer Julia Biel from England, the violinist Adam Baldych with Pawel Kaczmarczyk on the piano, the internationally acclaimed oud player Anouar Brahem and the unique Israeli bassist Avishai Cohen. Festival's special projects involve Manu Katché from France but also Branford Marsalis from the U.S.

Duets include the Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan and the Norwegian singer Silje Nergaard. Highlights also are Liberetto II by Lars Danielsson Group, the Echo Jazz award winner Lyambiko, the Tingvall Trio and several newcomers like Emil Brandqvist, Phronesis and many other outstanding artists. This year for the first time there are also two Palatia Jazz Youth Days - in which regional youth big bands and combos are presented.

Examples of venues are the King Ludwig's summer villa in Edenkoben, Kaiser Konrad Limburg Abbey and the oldest building in Hassloch. Tickets can be purchased in the Festival's website.
